Footnote (2021)

The work presents a sculptural installation consisting of 8 inflatable sculptures, connected through a single airflow. Placed sporadically, they hide at the feet of industrial columns in the dark exhibition space.

Footnote was part of the exhibition ‘‘Not a Sphere, but an irregular shape approximating a biaxial ellipsoid’  DOOResidency, Amsterdam Netherlands in September 2021.
The show presents a range of work from a collective of 19 artists, from the Critical Practice MA programme at the Royal College of Art.

The exhibition touch upon  the concept of virtual reality as transformative to our understanding of the Anthropocene, and the relationship between humans, nature and systems of power.

Footnote consider the the body in a world turned virtual. The sculpture propose a condition where bodies become invisible in the virtual, but rendered into an automatic isolation in the physical. Individually, and surrounded by some algorithm, here, we witness outsourcing of our own control; a delegation of our anthropocentric power to invisible, artificial systems.
